Some personal points
Luis Niñerola Cornado, whose father is Catalan and mother is Galician, was born in Merza (Vila de Cruces), Pontevedra, in Galicia. He lived there up until he was nine years old and it was there where he felt interested in the world of arts. At seven years old he became the youngest musician in Galicia and he joined the Artistic Band of Merza as a flute player.
The next stage of his life developed in Catalonia, specifically in Cambrils (Tarragona), where his emotional intelligence developed and at just twelve years old he began to work in construction as a builder, where he was taught the trade and during this time the role of the builder had a lot of responsibility.
So Luis learnt this trade from the laying of bricks to building itself; he went from a labourer, to a builder, then to a master builder, a manager, a draftsman, a design planner, and then he completed his university studies in which he graduated in Architecture in the Polytechnic University of Barcelona.
From then, the river simply took its course; he joined up with an architecture university lecturer, Santiago Fuentes Roca, and together they founded the Architecture Workshop called “Arquigrup” where Luis Niñerola was the Creative Director (the planner and designer) for 35 years. This success has enabled him to create more than 3,000 projects up to date.
And nowadays, he has left all of this in order to dedicate himself to his last and most loved project which is this book, Essays on a New Architecture for the Third Millennium, “The Flame of Love”, and the Premium Architecture Arquiworld Workshop, for the design of new projects under the premises of the New Architecture.
Luis Niñerola Cornado has dedicated his life to the development of a new concept of architecture which is completely different to the new technocratic and superficial tendencies that are restrictively imposed upon society. A New Architecture that aims to recover the existing biological connection between habitats and their inhabitants with the universal subtle energies; an architecture which is responsible for the plenitude of life; a practical and holistic philosophy which hopes to nurture the invisible, indivisible and forgotten link that human beings can and have to establish with their surroundings. The tools to be used in this adventure are the profound knowledge of the history of architecture, the correct use of the ecological and socio-ecological technologies, the use of renewable energies, the practical application of the earth’s own natural processes and the acquisition of old Celtic and eastern traditions; a travel in time in order to go back to feeling part of the planet and the universe; a study of the subtle energies which surround us and which determine our reality.
Luis Niñerola Cornado was born in 1949 in Merza, a small village in Galicia. From the year 1958, he lived in Cambrils; a small coastal town in Catalonia where he found the necessary peace and tranquillity to continue his work. He is currently the director and co-founder of ARQUIWORLD, an architecture workshop which allows him to put his own way of understanding the projection of architectural habitats into practice.
